In October 2025, with the full support and guidance of the MEDSAFE Medicines Control team, I completed the licensing process and was granted permission to operate a pharmacy—an integrative healthcare pharmacy specialising in anthroposophic medicines.

What had previously been my Healing Lands clinic and dispensary is now Sophia Pharmacy.

Healing Lands continues as the brand under which I produce a range of handcrafted products and host the Pounamu Clinic Room. I hope to eventually use this room for patient consultations; until that time, it remains available for casual hire by other health professionals.

About Sophia Pharmacy

Sophia Pharmacy is a compounding pharmacy focused on preparing individualised medicines from practitioner prescriptions. My approach centres on careful formulation, respect for traditional remedies, and the creation of medicines uniquely suited to each patient.

New Products and Websites

The Sophia Pharmacy website is now my primary online space. My current focus is building educational content and expanding the range of products available in the online shop.

Many of the medicines I offer are practitioner‑level and require consultation. If you order a product that requires a qualified practitioner’s oversight and you do not have an external prescription, I will contact you to arrange a consultation.

The Healing Lands website remains live, and I hope to continue expanding the range of Healing Lands products to meet emerging needs.

Local Ingredients & Product Development

A significant part of my work is developing products using the remarkable natural resources of Aotearoa New Zealand. These include minerals such as:

• Gold
• Silica sand
• Karamea granite
• Pounamu
• Oyster shell (conchae)

And many beautiful native plants, including:

• Kumarahou
• Tarata
• Kawakawa
• Hoheria
• Tataramoa
• Koromiko
• …and many more

It is a joy to work with these beings and to create medicines grounded in the nature of this land.

We also continue to use the traditional anthroposophic medicines originating from Europe. When supply disruptions occur, I work to create alternative formulations—such as alternatives for copper ointment and ferrum ointment. In some cases, I develop products with different qualities more suited to individual patients; for example, I have created an Aurum/Rose/Lavender ointment using a different potency of gold and a base of locally sourced ingredients.

Alternative Formulations for New Zealand Conditions

Some products sold as over‑the‑counter remedies in Europe are scheduled medicines in New Zealand and require a prescription. Where appropriate, I consider whether an alternative preparation can be crafted for general sale.

Recent examples include:

• Kamahi/Koromiko & Bitters Ointment – for haemorrhoids
• Chamomilla Hoheria comp Oral Liquid – for digestive complaints

Ecological Considerations

The ecological impact of product development is an important guide in my work. One example is replacing the endangered American slippery elm with Hoheria, which I have potentised so that only very small amounts of plant material are needed.

INVITATION  to the 

OFFICIAL OPENING of the SOPHIA PHARMACY

To ground the pharmacy within the wider community, an opening is to be held on Friday February 13th. At 1pm is the ribbon cutting and walk through at Sophia Pharmacy  where you are invited to place your individual blessing. At 2pm, at Te Rae, 101 Queen St East(5 minute walk from the Pharmacy), will be the reception with guest speeches/korero and afternoon tea kai. 

I warmly invite you to be a part of the celebration, to help bring this new venture, founded in anthroposophy, to be active in the world.
